This moving and handling transfer aid was designed by NRS: award winning Product Development Team to be less intimidating than a framed aid, but with the security of side supports to reduce the risk of falling. With a height adjustable knee-pad, the Stand & Turn provides a number of optionsfor standing and turning that allows for changes in the capability of the user. For users who can contribute to a more independent transfer, they can push themselves up using the side handles (generally with the knee-pad removed, as with other framed aids). As the user becomes less able to stand independently, the knee-pad and frame design allow it to be used with the user pulling themselves up to standing. In both cases, the wide base plate helps to counterbalance the user, minimising the risk of injury to the carer. Subject to a risk assessment, it may be possible to perform transfers with only one carer present. The large wheels assist in manoeuvring the Stand & Turn from room to room. Unlike other framed aids, the wheels are located on the top plate. As you approach the client, the Stand & Turn is lowered to the floor; the wheels are slightly raised, allowing it to be pushed toward the client, without the client having to raise their legs greatly. The foot pedal is used to raise the wheels so that the base is flat on the floor when the user stands up. The foot pedal is then pushed down at the front to raise the wheels up so that they do not interfere with the furniture during rotation; this also releases the brake so that the turning action can be performed. When the turn is complete, the wheels are lowered to the floor to lock the base, and allow the user to sit. The wheels are then raised again, which allows the turner to be easily pulled directly away from the client. The Stand & Turn provides the ideal turning solution for use in Hospitals, Care Homes, Stroke Rehabilitation and in domestic home settings, providing a single solution that caters for users with changing ability.
